The original Boston Terrier weighed over 20 kilos but has over the decades bred down to size. The Boston Terrier is one of America’s native breed having been developed in Boston, MA and was recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1893.

Appearance - The body of the Boston Terrier should appear muscular and compact. The head is square with a square jaw. Eyes are large and round and ears should be thin and erected. Acceptable colors include black-brindle or red-brindle. In the show ring, symmetrical markings are preferred.

Description - Originally bred for use in pit fighting, the modern Boston Terrier can be gentle, alert, and well-mannered. They're known to be quite rambunctious (active), with a sense of humor. Both females and males generally bark only when necessary. Being a companion dog they enjoy the companion of people and if socialized well they get along nicely with children and other pets.

Boston Terriers can be very cuddly, while others are more independent. Some Boston Terriers have an excitable or dominant temperament that requires special training and handling by the owner. Some are aggressive towards other dogs.

I love mine

Having had 3 Boston Terriers I definitely recomend them. But remember just like people each has there own personality. I first had a male and female from the same litter. I highly recomend having two. They bond so well and will take some of the load off of you, they have a medium high energy level.

Buster had tons of personality, and taught himself tricks lick opening locked doors, removing his sisters collar, picking up to four bones in his mouth at once and other cute little things. He was an excellent watch dog, he would bark but only at noises that were out of the ordinary, like if a diferent car came through the neighborhood instead of the neighbors. I really loved him but he fell victim to a heart tumor, it came on out of the blue and there was no medical remedy.

Now his sister, Dusty, is very diferent, she's much more excitable around people but is like a bean bag when with us, she is so lazy, and slow too she takes her dear sweet time to come when you call and that's if she feals like it. Buster was the alfa and dominated her but after he pasted she wentinto such a depression. It took 6 weeks for her to start to come and greeet me at the door again. To remedy that and also my wifes pain, I drove 5 hours to a breeder and got Buddy.

He's got to be the cutest Boson Terrrier I've ever seen and I'm not just saying it. He's also very bright and a quick learner except hes still not fully house broken yet at 12 weeks, but he'll get it, He's starting to ring the bell hanging by the back door when he wants to go out like Buster did, Dusty comes and scrathes your arm. That keaps me aware of when it's time to trim her nails!

Now that we have Buddy my wife can better accept Buster's passing, he brought so much pleasure to her, And Dusty was afraid of him on day one, leary on day two, playing too rough on day three , playing carefully on day four, and now acting like a puppy again with him, Shes starting to sleep with him like she did with Buster and training him how to groom each other too. Remember, is four paws good, eight paws better.
